I study instances in which the built world breaks down; instances in which its solidity and permanence waiver. Instances in which a building spews forth the contents of its insides, or when the floor collapses or when a fungus is found growing.
They reference a living, breathing entity within a solid edifice.
They expose us to the limits of the built world. And these echo the same limits we experience as human beings within our bodies.
Our bodies are buildings and our buildings are bodies.
