Beat Blocks
Sound-responsive LED's, glass block, fabric
Dimensions variable
2012

Installed at Re:View Contemporary

Beat Blocks is a sound-responsive work that is precariously held together by gravity - the glass blocks and lighting elements are simply cradled in the stretch fabric. The lights change color and intensity with differing volume and cadence of sound. Matthew Polzin (cellist) performed along with Beat Blocks while installed at Re:View Contemporary. He and Ben Christensen created the soundtrack here that references the piece Polzin performed live.
