Spaces of Sound is a kinetic work inspired by John Cage and the physicality of stairs. It is made up of various lengths (up to 50’) of tubes using Slinkies linked together and enveloped in translucent abaca paper skins, and colored LED's, threaded within. It responds to the cadence and volume of people traveling on the stairs. The tubes move up and down subtly, creating a rhythmic and calming motion.
