The Invasive Paper Project
Hannan House is an important part of the Cass Corridor as a center for the enrichment and empowerment of seniors. However, this neighborhood in Detroit, where the gallery also is embedded, has seen a lot of change in recent years. Places like Hannan House hasn't necessarily seen the benefit of the development as most of it has been geared towards "millenials". They haven't been part of the conversation. I wanted to invite them into the gallery, to let them know that it is a space in which they were welcome and were there are programs that are open to the public no matter what age. A paper-making workshop became the conversation starter to engage them and welcome them into the space.
