I seek to highlight and celebrate misunderstood places through my artistic practice. Fields of "invasives" in the urban landscape tell a story of imbalance. A swamp, dark and unknown, is one of the most biodiverse places, acting like earth’s liver, cleaning and filtering. These landscapes are indicators of our human impact and often we fear what they are telling us. They show the damage and neglect that we have caused. I focus on these places because I understand them as teachers, helping us to listen, to learn, and to be better stewards and neighbors. These earthly margins hold the stories and histories of our human influence.
